  • Explore the history of The Brontes of Haworth

Visit Haworth Parsonage, where the Bronte family lived,  just 2 miles away in the village of Haworth.

  • Walk The Pennine Way

This famous long distance foot path passes right beside Ponden House. There are dozens of other local footpaths to explore in stunning scenery.

  • Travel on the Keighley & Worth Valley Steam Railway

The KWVR passes through nearby Haworth and there are steam trains running all year round between Keighley & Oxenhope. The KWVR was of course the location for the ever popular film, The Railway Children.


  • Join Ponden Watersports & sail or canoe on Ponden Reservoir

– Bring your sailing dinghy, canoe or windsurfer with you and launch straight onto beautiful Ponden Reservoir.

Join Ponden Watersports and enjoy unlimited use of the water.

Enquire about Day, Weekend, Weekly or Full membership at Ponden Watersports.  Visitors to Ponden House can receive instruction in canoeing and other watersports from High Adventure Outdoor Education Centre in nearby Cowling village, but these activities must be arranged in advance.

To use Ponden Reservoir for any watersports activity you must first contact High Adventure OEC of Cowling on 01535 630044 for details & prices.

Ponden Watersports has a secure compound where you can leave your craft. There is a slipway and pontoon for launching purposes.

Swimming,  fishing and powered craft are not permitted on the reservoir.

All users of the reservoir must have valid Ponden Watersports membership. It is a condition of all use of the reservoir that you have relevant insurance.
